A desulfurization tower is a tower type equipment used for
desulfurization treatment of industrial waste gas. The most widely
used application of desulfurization tower was initially built with
granite, which utilizes the principle of water film desulfurization
and dust removal, also known as granite water film desulfurization
and dust removal device or granite water film desulfurization and
dust removal device.
The advantage is that it is easy to maintain and can achieve both
dust removal and desulfurization (denitrification) effects by
preparing different dust collectors. With the development of
fiberglass technology, desulfurization towers are gradually being
made of fiberglass. Compared to granite desulfurization towers,
fiberglass desulfurization towers have lower costs, easier
processing, rust resistance, and lighter weight, making them the
development trend of desulfurization towers in the future. After
years of improvement, various types of desulfurization towers have

1, Definition and Materials
Fiberglass desulfurization tower is an environmentally friendly
equipment made of glass fiber reinforced plastic (FRP) as the core
material, which is made of resin matrix, glass fiber and auxiliary
materials through composite technology. Compared with the
traditional granite material, it has the characteristics of light
weight (density 1.5-2.0g/cm ³), acid and alkali corrosion
resistance, aging resistance, etc., and its manufacturing cost is
reduced by 30% -50% 16.
2, Structural composition
Core components
Tower body: Adopting a split structure for easy transportation and
installation, it contains spray layer, defogging layer, etc.
inside;
Spray device: evenly spray desulfurizer (such as NaOH solution,
limestone slurry) through atomizing nozzle;
Packing layer: Increase the gas-liquid contact area and improve
reaction efficiency.
Auxiliary system
Mixing device: Ensure thorough mixing of desulfurizer and flue gas;
Discharge outlet: The treated clean flue gas is discharged through
the chimney to meet the standard.
3, Working principle
The sulfur-containing flue gas enters from the bottom of the tower
and comes into contact with the sprayed alkaline desulfurizer in
reverse flow, undergoing a chemical reaction (such as SO ₂+CaCO ∝ →
CaSO ∝·ݤ H ₂ O+CO ₂) to neutralize acidic gases. After
purification, the flue gas is dehydrated through a defogging layer,
resulting in a significant reduction in the concentration of
pollutants emitted (with a SO ₂ removal rate of 85% -95% and a dust
removal rate of over 98%).
